There are many ways to delete your Telegram contacts, one at a time or all at once. Besides, it is better to disable the option to sync Telegram contacts to your phone to avoid deleting the same contact again and again.

Now Telegram won't sync any new contacts you add to your phone with the app. However, any contacts you've already synced will still appear in the app.

Enabling the ‘Auto-Delete Messages’ feature for all chats:

You can tap the camera icon (Android) in your chat list to create a story, using a photo or video either from your gallery or via the in-app camera. Multiple images from your gallery can be used in one story open the sticker panel in the editor and tap the photo icon in the bottom corner. There you can also search for images from the web.

When creating a story, you can tap to take a photo, or hold down to record video all with one hand. While recording, swipe left to lock recording, swipe up to zoom in, or swipe right to switch cameras.

When creating an invite link, you can choose any public groups or channels as well as private groups and channels where you have the admin right to invite users. Individual users and bots can't be shared together with the folder, but users can add them manually later. Sharing a folder with someone allows them to directly join all its chats even ones that normally need Join Requests (for this reason, only admins can add public chats with join requests to shareable folders).

A Passcode Lock lets you lock your Telegram messages with Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint, PIN, or pattern screen lock. If your device gets lost or stolen, you can rest assured that no one can access and use your account if they don’t have the code.

To set a password on Telegram, you first need to open the Telegram app. Then, click the ‘Settings’ icon in the top right corner. From there, go to ‘Privacy’ & Security’ and select ‘Password’. You’ll then be asked to enter a password that you want to use and confirm it. Enter the password carefully and save the settings. You will now be asked to enter the password each time you log into Telegram.

Your Passcode Lock is now enabled. You can also turn on an option to unlock your Android with a fingerprint, if your device is so enabled, and set it to auto-lock in five minutes, one hour, or five hours. You can change your passcode as well.

Recently active status can mean a number of things, and isn’t as accurate as of the alternative. You should know that this goes both ways, meaning that if you disable your online status, you also won’t be able to see the online status of your contacts.

Online privacy is a myth. You should take care when sharing personal information online. Your online status is a great giveaway as to your current activity. Sure, it’s great to let your friends and family know where you are at all times, but that information shouldn’t be given to strangers.

People can easily track your IP and find your actual physical location if you’re careless. It’s best to disable your online status on all apps and social media. You can go a step further, and use a VPN service to ensure your privacy.

Public channels have a username. Anyone can find them in Telegram search and join. Private channels are closed societies – you need to be added by the owner or get an invite link to join. Please note that private channels with publicly available invite links will be treated in the same way as public channels, should it come to content disputes.

The owner of a channel can broadcast messages, delete any messages, add subscribers (the first 200 only), remove subscribers, change the channel's name, profile image and link, as well as delete the channel completely. The owner can also add and remove administators to help manage the channel. You can set up administrator rights for each individual administrator when you appoint them.

As of writing this, Telegram lets you add up to 200,000 members to your Telegram channel.

Telegram's beautiful animations and lightweight effects are optimized to make any phone feel powerful, but can now be disabled to extend battery life and improve performance on older devices. Power Saving Mode can be set to automatically turn on when your battery reaches a certain percent with individual toggles that let you disable specific effects. 

While Android and iOS phones enter battery-saving mode when their battery goes below a certain percentage, Telegram's Power Saving Mode is an addition. Further, the feature is available for both paying and non-paying users of the app. Users can also switch Telegram's appearance to dark mode to save some extra battery. 

Power saving mode, when turned on, 'Power mode' reduces your device's performance and limits vibration, location services and most background data. 

You can manually clear the Telegram cache on your computer or phone from the "Data and storage" section of the Settings menu. Using Telegram's storage settings, you can specify the maximum storage space the cache will ever take up. In the Telegram app for Windows and MacOS, you can clear the entire cache or selectively delete just photos and videos.

Telegram lets you send and receive files up to 2GB in size. Once downloaded, these files are locally stored on your phone’s storage in the form of a cache.  Telegram certainly has an extensive library that is not limited to the official packs. Users can also develop and share their sticker packs for Telegram. All these sticker packs combined can fill a good amount of storage on your device. You can free up that valuable space by removing sticker packs that you no longer use.

Other Telegram users will only be able to see your phone number if you have theirs stored in your phone and sync your contacts with Telegram. That includes friends, anyone in your phone contacts, and anyone you have willingly shared your phone number with.

Telegram has a Secret Chat feature that uses end-to-end encryption and will self-destruct at a preset time. You will need to set a timer for these chats, but aside from that, the process is automatic. For those chats you never want to be found, this is a very cool feature.

To create or customize Telegram chat backgrounds, head over to Settings then click on Chat Settings then click on Change Chat Background on Android or Settings then Appearance and then click on Chat Background on iOS. This is the same menu used to activate Telegram's Dark Mode. In the menu, tap on Set a Color and select one from the available options containing solid backgrounds and gradients. 

Telegram users can also choose from photographs available in the Chat Background menu. When an image is selected, users can either blur the image or add motion to it. There's even an option to search for backgrounds on the web by tapping on the magnifying glass at the top right corner of the menu.

In Telegram, the option to automatically save incoming photos and videos might need to be activated manually from the mobile app (not from the desktop one). If you just installed the app on your device, you need to enable this option to ensure that all the pics you receive via chat will automatically show up in your Gallery app.

Telegram’s Android app offers an option to save all the downloaded photos and videos to Gallery automatically. You need to enable it from the Settings.
