Voice status comes months after WhatsApp saw significant traction in voice messages on its platform. The Meta-owned messaging app in March said that its users were sending an average of 7 billion voice messages daily.

WhatsApp has also broadened the availability of status reactions that were available to some users a few months back. Users can quickly reply to any status updates by swiping up and tapping on one of eight emoji.

Users also get link previews on their WhatsApp status updates. This will allow them to showcase a visual preview of their links to Instagram posts or YouTube videos that they put on their status.

Private Stories are just for you. Only you can add Snaps to your Private Story, and only you decide which friends can view it. Private Stories have a padlock icon. Friends that can view your Private Story will see those Snaps mixed in with your My Story. On Android devices, Private Stories and My Stories may show up separately. Friends that can’t view your Private Story are not notified that you have one. 

This is a particularly helpful feature if you want to share content with a specific group and not all of your followers.

Snapchat is introducing a chatbot powered by the latest version of Open AI’s Chat GPT. Named “My AI,” Snapchat’s bot will be pinned to the app’s chat tab above conversations with friends. My AI is essentially just a fast mobile-friendly version of ChatGPT inside Snapchat. The main difference is that Snap’s version is more restricted in what it can answer. 

After trying My AI, it’s clear that Snap doesn’t feel the need to even explain the phenomenon that is ChatGPT, which is a testament to OpenAI building the fastest-growing consumer software product in history. Snap is in a different place. It has a deceivingly large and young user base, but its business is struggling. My AI will likely be a boost to the company’s paid subscriber numbers in the short term, and eventually, it could open up new ways for the company to make money. 

While ChatGPT has quickly become a productivity tool, Snap’s implementation treats generative AI more like a persona. My AI’s profile page looks like any other Snapchat user’s profile, albeit with its own alien Bitmoji. The design suggests that My AI is meant to be another friend inside of Snapchat for you to hang out with, not a search engine. 

If you're in an emergency situation, you can use your phone to trigger emergency actions like calling for help, alerting your contacts of your location, and recording video. When Battery Saver is turned on, emergency location sharing may be severely limited.

Instagram has been testing the “Notes” feature in DMs in some countries. They are slowly rolling it out to more countries now (like Japan and Europe).

It Means You won’t get Instagram notifications anymore. Your Profile Activity Status will change to “In Quiet Mode” (so people know that you won’t be able to reply). Instagram will automatically send an auto-reply when someone DMs you 

“Quiet Mode” is currently available in these countries: US, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. If testing goes well, Instagram will roll it out to more countries.
