To participate in DataCamp’s Data Science competition you need to create and publish your most insightful analysis using Workspace, DataCamp’s in-browser IDE. Once you’ve submitted your publication, it will be reviewed by fellow data enthusiasts and the judging panel.

Participating in DataCamp competitions is a great way to master the skills you learned in the courses. In this session, you'll get a short presentation on what competitions involve, then you'll be working through a competition with the help of Rogelio Montemayor, DataCamp's competition architect.

Please note that you will be using DataCamp Workspace. All you need is a DataCamp account. If you need help, read the Getting Started with Workspace tutorial. Members of some enterprise groups do not yet have access to use DataCamp Workspace. Create a free DataCamp account with your personal email address to follow along.

There are three common reasons why a project's code will not submit: 

You need to reset the entire project by clicking the reset button in the bottom right corner. You will lose all of your code when you reset a project. Before doing so, you can download your code by clicking File in the top left corner, followed by Download as and selecting your preferred file type. If your project is still not submitting, you can reach out to DataCamp Support (atop this page). Please include the project URL, screenshots of the full interface, and your code. 

it is important to keep track of your team's progress and measure their engagement. DataCamp's Reporting and Leaderboard functionalities allow you to do just that.

You can access more data on course completion by navigating to the Reporting section of your Organization's interface and going to the Export tab to export a .csv. It should appear as a .zip file in your Downloads folder.

The View Leaderboard option allows you to view much of the same information above. It can be accessed by clicking on Reporting Then Summary Then View Leaderboard. One of the main differences here is that you can filter by 30 days, 90 days, or the Past Year. This helps you identify your Data Camp rockstars more easily.

Most of DataCamp courses have a section called Prerequisites located on the course's homepage. Prerequisites are courses that should be taken beforehand for the best learning experience. They are recommended but not mandatory, especially if you already have a strong grasp of the content in those courses. 

DataCamp has courses for both beginners and experts. Whether you’re new to data science or have years of experience, you can learn something new that will help you grow. 

While some DataCamp courses are introductory and therefore require no prerequisite knowledge, most courses have content that needs a bit more. DataCamp want their students to be prepared (and not overwhelmed), so they ensure that all courses beyond the absolute beginner level have DataCamp courses listed as prerequisites on the course landing page. 

If you are taking a soon-to-be phased-out course in a track, you will be notified directly in that course. Its replacement course will be offered as a suggestion. You can complete that course before moving on to its replacement.

For courses, you can Take Hint, which will subtract some XP, and Show Answer, which will subtract all XP, but still allow you to proceed. DataCamp's XP does not have any exchange value, though you can keep track of your activity, as well as receive a weekly email sharing your productivity percentile.

DataCamp does not provide grades. While XP is gained after completing each exercise, there is not a special XP bonus provided after completing the entire course. After completion of a course, you will have access to a Statement of Accomplishment, which you can download or share on Linkedin.
