Unlike a regular text channel, Announcement channels comes with a “Follow” button that allows server members to hook and connect the channel into their own personal servers. Now, select messages in your Announcement channels can be "published" in your server member's, friend's, communities, or dog's servers as regular messages, allowing them to get the latest updates in the places they hang out most. 

Setting up a role-exclusive channel is integral to conducting official guild business without alarming the rest of the troops. With the correct settings, your guild members shall not pass without your explicit permission. 

If you do not already have a role set up that deserves this exclusive status, then open Server Settings then  Roles and create a new role for your secret channel by clicking the "+" sign next to Roles. 

The difference in the basic permissions for a voice channel versus a text channel is instead of "read messages," the "connect" permission will either be green-lighted or denied. 

There are multiple ways to enable or disable the microphone access. 

In your server, you're also capable of adjusting Category permissions so that the channels under a category can all have the same permissions. Here's how you can set up Category permissions. 

 

There are two default states for a channel in regards to category permissions. Synced and not-synced. A synced channel will have permissions that completely match that of the category. A not-synced channel will have permissions that differ from the permissions set for the category. 

If you change the permissions on a category, all channels that are synced will automatically update. 

If you do not sync permissions when moving a channel between categories, or if you change an individual permission on the channel level, it will then show that the channel is not synced with the category. 

This means the channel currently does not share the same permissions as the category and will not automatically update when you make changes to the category's permissions. 

To be able to manage both Channels and Categories, a user must have the Manage Channels permission. The owner of a server and any users with a role giving them Administrator implicitly have this permission.

All newly created categories are placed at the bottom of your channel and category sidebar but can be moved by clicking and dragging just like with channels. The biggest difference is that categories cannot be placed within other categories as they are considered a top-level item on the sidebar. This also means you cannot sync settings from one category to another like you would sync a channel to a category.

You can either create a sub-only Discord server for your Twitch channel, or you can create a sub-only channel (or two) in your server. After your Twitch is connected to your Discord, now you can integrate Twitch into your server.

Priority Speaker is currently only supported for the desktop app. The mobile app does not work with this feature, you won't be able to hear (or set) Priority Speaker on the mobile app. 

Priority Speaker privileges can be assigned to a role and assigned to users by anyone with a Manage Roles permission. These roles can be given out on either the server level or the channel level. 

Since Priority Speaker requires you to use Push to Talk, this means you’ll also need to set up a keybind for this feature to activate. Go into User Settings then Keybind & click on Add a Keybind. Under Action select Push to Talk (Priority) & select a keybind.
