Firstly, you'll want to disable all permissions for @everyone using these steps below: 

  • Head into the Roles tab in your Server Settings menu. 
  • Select the default @everyone role and then scroll all the way to the bottom of the permissions page. 
  • Once you scroll all the way down, you'll be able to click on the Clear Role Permissions button. 
  • This Clear Role Permissions button will automatically disable all toggles for all permissions (which is exactly what we want) 
  • Last but not least, make sure to save your changes. 

If you post your Discord server's link publicly on a website or anywhere on social media, it will have a public perception. However, if you want to create a truly public server that anyone can access without using a link, you'll have to enable the “Community” option.

Discord banner is the image that appears above your verified server’s listing. Banners on Discord are also a perk of the platform’s paid Nitro membership. Users who opt-in to the upgraded membership have the option of adding a banner to their profile. 

When it comes to server banner backgrounds, Discord’s requirements are slightly different. This banner appears above your channel list. Discord recommends an image size of 960 x 540 pixels with a 16:9 aspect ratio. If you have an image that is 1920 x 1080 pixels, then Discord will automatically resize it when you upload it.

If you want to share your screen with your class, you can utilize our Go Live - Screen Share feature to broadcast your screen to up to 50 people in your Discord

Consider making this default channel your welcome channel to greet newcomers. This channel would offer space for current members to say hi or for you to introduce your server. 

Community servers also have welcome screens with a message, channel recommendations, and rules that new members see on entry. But as you should know that  Discord welcome screen example message has a 140-character limit. So it might make the most sense to use both the welcome screen and a channel with more details.

Discord allows Nitro subscribers to upload a custom banner image on their profile. Initially, this feature was only available in the Discord desktop application, but it was extended to the mobile app, as well.

Now to give permissions to all your classroom members joining the server, you can do so in two different ways. 

Assigning Roles in the Members Tab 

  • Head into the Server Settings. 
  • Select Members (under User Management in the left hand side bar). 
  • Click on the '+' button right beside the server member you'd like to assign a role to Select the Role that you'd like to give the server member in the drop down menu. 

Note: If you have a lot of roles, you can also search for the role by typing the Role name by the "ADD:"

  • Click on the '+' button right beside the server member you'd like to assign a role to.
