In order to share your screen with your server, make sure you have a role with the Video permission within the server. If you don’t have this permission, you won’t see an option to share your screen in a server. If you don’t have this Video permission for your role, you’ll need to ask the server owner or other administrators to enable the Video permission (under the Voice Permissions category).

Now that you’ve met all the requirements in the section above, you can now start the process of sharing your screen on the mobile app.

Select the Home button (Discord logo) in the top left of the app and your DMs will be listed under "Direct Messages" to the right of your server list. Afterwards, select a DM. If your camera is already ready to go, you can start a video call in a DM by pressing the Start Video Call button on the menu bar at the top.

On mobile, it’s slightly different. You’ll still want to head to the server you want to join and then click on the voice channel to join it. But as soon as you click on the voice channel, you’ll get a pop-up with an icon at the bottom right where you can instantly switch on your camera.

Then, tap Privacy and Safety. Under ‘Safe Direct Messaging’, choose from either Keep me safe, my friends are nice or Do not scan. Discord automatically scans and delete direct messages you receive that contain explicit material.

Next, scroll down and choose whether you want to allow direct messages from server members by swiping the toggle feature. The setting is applied when you join a new server. It does not apply retroactively to your existing servers.

There are several reasons if you cannot change the Discord username. Usually, changing your username isn’t that much of hard work but, when your username-changing attempts don’t compromise Discord’s terms and conditions, you’ll face difficulties changing your username. 

Discord has a feature to tidy things up, all voice channels have a built-in text chat. These text chats only appear when you click the icon in the voice channel, and don't take up space next to the regular text channels. This makes them more accessible for people who are in the voice channel, and also doesn't crowd the channels list in the server.

Switching Discord accounts by logging out and logging back in can be a big waste of time. Maybe you use a personal Discord account at home and a different one for work. Or maybe you have different identities across multiple gaming platforms like Steam, Origin or IRC that you would like to keep separate. Whatever the reason, Shift makes switching between multiple Discord accounts easy. 

Sometimes, you want to play games your friends don't know about. Since Discord is primarily for the gaming community, it goes without saying that if you want to play The Cat Games instead of over watch, you'll be teased. Unless that is, you have multiple Discord accounts. Similarly, as with Reddit and WhatsApp, you can also definitely sign into multiple Discord accounts using Shift. 

Server owners and mods can opt to create a Forum channel, a text channel or a voice channel, and the new kind of channel will live in the same place but be distinguishable with a chat bubble icon. Clicking the icon shows a list of specific conversation threads posted under a given topic, which should go a long way towards making Discord more organized and more relevant to people who can’t always hang out in real time.

 

When you first create your Discord account, the platform lets you choose a username for yourself. You can always modify your username later, though. Discord also allows you to use a different nickname on each server you join. 

Each Discord user has a username that is split into two parts: a regular username that can be changed at any time, and a tag that can't be changed unless they're a Discord Nitro subscriber. 

While creating a discord account, you need to use your email address for registration. This email address will be used for claiming your account if somehow you forget your account password or you lost your discord account. You can claim your account by verifying your email address that you used for registration. For claiming your account you need to remember your username or 4 digit code in front of username.

Your Discord profile picture (or Discord avatar) is completely customizable, but there are some rules you’ll need to consider first before you change it. There are no size limitations to the image you upload, but the image that Discord will show as your avatar is capped at 128×128 pixels. If you upload a larger image, you’ll need to crop or resize it using Discord’s built-in image editor to make it fit. 

Any image must be saved as a PNG, JPEG, or GIF file. If it isn’t, you won’t be able to upload the image and use it. 

If you use an image that breaks Discord’s terms of service, or that isn’t acceptable on the server you’re using, you may find yourself removed from the server or banned entirely. If you run your own Discord server, you’ll still need to make sure that the image you’re using doesn’t breach the Discord terms of service to avoid a platform ban. 

Add Using Their Profile means If you didn't find your friends using search, add people using their Discord profile, but some caveats apply. This method doesn't allow you to add a friend from their profile if they aren't part of your Discord server or you aren't joined to their server.
