Agastyamuni is the small peaceful hamlet, 20 km from Rudraprayag, on the banks of river Mandakini. Agastyamuni is dedicated to sage Agastya, one of the most revered teachers in Hindu mythology. It is believed that the sage had meditated here for almost one year and used to have his own gurukul here.
