Sceliphron is a genus of Hymenoptera belonging to the Sphecidae family of wasps. It is often referred to as black mud daubers or black mud-dauber wasps.

They are lone mud daubers who construct mud nests. Usually built in shady nooks, nests are found right within windows or vent openings. A female may build a cell, which requires numerous trips carrying mud, in as little as a day.

Once each cell is provided, the females will gradually add more cells to the nest one by one. For the larvae that are still developing, they supply spiders from these nests, specifically jumping, orb-weaver, and crab spiders.
