Suppose your server is all grown up into a full-fledged public forum, and you'll need to send it off to a new owner to take care of. Or maybe you just want a friend to look after your server while you're out. Whatever the case, it’s now easy to transfer server ownership.

After completing the transfer you will still be a member of the server. The access you retain will depend on the permissions tied to your role.

However, the fact that you are a moderator or have a permission-packed role on a server doesn't automatically mean that you can transfer ownership onto someone else. Privileges don't make you the server's owner. So, only a Discord server owner can transfer server ownership.

If the current owner has been inactive for 30 days you can put in a request to transfer ownership of the server. Just email support@discordapp.com for help.
