To search for a specific WhatsApp message or file, just remember the part of the message, phrase, or word that contains the message or the file name. Follow the steps below:
- Open WhatsApp to find the message you are looking for.
- Open the Chats tab.
- Select the magnifier icon from the top right of the screen.
- Type in the keyword you want.
- Then all the messages in which this word is used will appear and you can find the message you want among them.
To search for a specific phrase, enclose the phrase in quotation marks. For example, if you’re looking for the phrase “meeting tomorrow,” enter it as “meeting tomorrow” in the search bar. WhatsApp will show all the messages that contain the exact phrase.
WhatsApp also allows you to search for media files, such as photos, videos, or documents. Simply enter the file type or extension in the search bar, such as “photo,” “video,” or “.pdf.” WhatsApp will display all the media files matching your search query.
If you’re looking for messages from a specific time period, you can use the date-based search filter. Enter “before:” or “after:” followed by the desired date in the search bar. For example, “before: 01/01/2022” will show all messages sent or received before January 1, 2022.
