Rudraprayag is one of the Panch Prayags at the confluence of rivers Alakananda and Mandakini, 33 km from Srinagar. The town of Rudraprayag dedicated to the Rudranath temple is built at the confluence of the rivers. According to Hindu mythology, sage Narada worshiped lord Shiva here to learn music from him. Shiva taught him music in his form of Rudra - the Lord of Music. A Koteshwar temple dedicated to Shiva inside natural caves is situated on the opposite bank of the river.
