One type of morning glory that grows as a shrub is Ipomoea carnea, sometimes known as the pink morning glory.

The heart-shaped, lush green leaves of this flowering plant measure 6 to 9 inches (15 to 23 cm) in length. It is simple to cultivate from seeds.

The swainsonine produced by the seeds' endophytes and the bioaccumulation of selenium in the leaves, primarily in the seeds, are the causes of the seeds' toxicity, which can pose a risk to cattle.
