Has anyone ever used a smart phone to satellite phone adapter?

I checked around and there appears to be adapters that you can buy to convert your smart phone into a satellite capable device. Has anyone used anything like this before and can tell me what would be a good unit to try?

I`ve seen to my friends that  you put your smartphone (not any type, one based on 4G) into a dock or you attach an adaptor

When it`s connected to the satellite mode, the smartphone can`t be properly used as receiving calls or surfin the net
