Viber Data Usage – Per Call
 
The bandwidth rate during a Viber call is approximately 240 KB per minute up and down, 14 MB per hour up and down.
 
You talk for 1 Minute – 240KB data is consumed
You talk for 1 hour on a call – 14MB data is consumed
Viber Data Usage – Per Message
 
Viber message is about 828 bytes per 500 English characters – approx 1KB per 500 characters
This is approx equal to 1KB per 5 short messages
 
 
Please ensure that you have one of the following installed on your mobile device:
 
Android – Viber 3.0, or higher
iPhone – Viber 3.0, or higher
Blackberry – Viber 2.4 (does not support call transfers to Viber for Desktop), or higher
Windows Phone 8 – Viber 2.2.3 (partial compatibility, may encounter sync issues), or higher
S60 – No minimum Viber version requirement (partial compatibility, may encounter sync issues)
 
Please also make sure your computer meets the system and hardware requirements below:
Windows:
Windows XP Service pack 3 and above.
Windows Vista
Windows 7
Windows 8*
 
Mac:           
OSX 10.7.5 and above.

Ensure that the correct ports are open. 
n order for Viber Desktop to run on your computer, the following ports must be open:
TCP: 5242 and 4244
UDP: 5243 and 9785
 
Below are instructions on how to open these ports on your Windows operating system.
 
 
Windows 7 / Windows 8
Open the Control Panel from the Start menu
Type 'firewall' in the search bar
Click on Windows Firewall 
On the left, find and click Advanced Settings (You may be asked for an administrator password. Enter it to move forward)
On the left, find and click Inbound Rules
On the right, find and click New Rule
Follow the instructions in the New Inbound Rule wizard.
 
Repeat this process for each new port you would like to open.
 
Windows XP
Click on the Start > My Network Places > View Network Connections
Right click on your connected network connection 
Select Properties > Advanced > Settings > Exceptions > Add Port
Name the port (for example, "Viber")
In the External port and Internal port boxes, type the port number. Generally, this number is the same.
Click either TCP or UDP, and then click OK.
