How is the T-Mobile signal strength and coverage in NYC and NJ area?

It seems T-Mobile is offering unlimited data at a cheaper cost. Want to know the quality of the coverage before making the switch.

I have T-mobile with unlimited data. I went to NJ and NYC last summer and I didn't have any issues. I was able to make calls back home and use the internet on my phone which I needed since my hotel didn't offer free wifi.
