Is it bad if I charge my phone past 100%?

Like if my phone reaches full battery life and I keep charging it, will I damage it? Thanks.

I had a friend tell me this was bad, and in-fact this one time I left my phone on the charger for too long and it restarted about 3 times after that, so I think it really is bad.

It should be fine. There's absolutely no harm in leaving it plugged in. The phone won't "overcharge" and it won't damage the battery. The absolute worst thing to do is drain it completely.
