I have Sky Fiber, and for some reason I have both a Sky router and a BT router, the sky router just goes through the BT one. What is the point? Surely it will just slow my connection down having to go through an additional router? And besides, my BT router seems to get a bit too hot for my liking.

The only reason I can think of is REDUNDANCY. Redundancy is actually good to have because it provides failsafe solution to faulty provision of services. Not that your service is faulty but having redundancy guarantees a stream of service.

Redundancy is used on many network providers server rooms nowadays, this guarantee what they call SLA and Customer Service for that matter.
