OK, first, as far as the OS, pay attention to the difference between the Software Release number and the OS version number.   If you bought a T-Mobile BlackBerry from T-Mobile then it has an approved T-Mobile OS. Go into settings, about, and then OS and look.

 

I have not used Link to do an OS upgrade.   I don't know anything about troubleshooting it. Can you do it from the BlackBerry OTA. You will need wifi. Go into settings, select software updates and then check for updates.  If you don't see an update, turn the BlackBerry off and then back on after a minute or two and then try again.
