Why people still like and use windows xp ?

Probably, they are used to it, despite its security flaws, it's a simple operating system, able to be implied by a wide range of customers

The company I work for had a couple of computers on XP, that were updated to Windows 7, when Microsoft offered discounts for businesses and individuals

Due to familiarity to and comfort ability with the brand of course.  Windows have been in the market for ages.  Almost all if not all of the desktop and previous laptops were Microsoft.  And before in terms of competition they out eat Linux big time.  Now it is a different story having Macc and andriod around.
