Dial-up internet services still exist, although the amount of users has significanlty declined due to the prevelance of broadband in metro areas.. However dial-up is still a technology that is greatly in use in rural and distant areas due to the fact that the only options to distant rural users are expensive and spotty satellite based internet or inexpensive and stable dial-up connections.
