Typically Google recommends using their Nexus device for mobile testing Android Apps. However, I'd personally recommend doing some research on which models are in the most consumer use. That way you can see how your app looks like across multiple devices for quality assurance purposes. Android phones differ a lot in hardware in comaprison to Apple's.
