Is an Android phone better than an Iphone?

I've been thinking of getting a new phone. It seems that some people prefer Android phones than Iphones. I'm not sure what the differences are. Any suggestions?

Iphones are better but expensive.Apple Inc is the one who make IPhones.Android is a open-source software and lot of phone providers using it, so there are lot of phones and brands you can choose it from.

I personally prefer android over iPhone, there's many more free apps, theres more you can do with them and I have found them to be more reliable.

Whats more, is if you change your handset on android, perhaps from a Samsung, to a HTC or then too a Sony it will always sync your contacts, galleries, apps etc, where iPhones will only do that to other iPhones. You have much more freedom with Android.
