Great question.
We use both whatsapp and BBM and although we've extensively used whatsapp, its obvious BBM is the better option.

BBM became famous for being able to attach to GMS and HDSPA cell phone providers to create an internal mesh of communications when ISP WiFi when the government had shut down a few internet ports to the Internet. At the time thousands were able to communicate using their very own thetering WiFi with BBM. It was a new era in communications.

Whatsapp doesn't offer this feature and it only works with ISP internet based or cell phone service but you can't make a community mesh with it.

We suggest BBM for the fact that it has this one specific feature plus is allows for the retraction of wrongfully sent messages as well as time frame messaging. That is to say, you can send a message with a timer and the person will read it but after the timeframe is due the message won't be available anymore.

Bottom line, BBM has better features than whatsapp and so it should be used with that in mind.

Regarding the other answer to this topic,

Although BBM may have better features, it appears to have a lot less users, you could have the best software in the world, but if nobody else is using it then the whole thing is pointless.

I have noticed that more people I know use WhatsApp than BBM, but the most popular form of communication among people I know is the Facebook Messenger app

Whatsapp is best because maximum people know how to use and its user friendly so have fun.
