African Black Beetle insect

African black beetles (Heteronychus arator) are more likely to be found outside of your home than inside. These all black beetles belong to the same Dynastinae subfamily as rhinoceros beetles, however they are smaller.

These shiny black beetles are small and oval in shape, with no distinguishing marks. These little black "bugs" have rusty brown markings on the underside that set them apart from other beetles.
The black beetles, which are native to Africa, are widespread agricultural pests in Australia and New Zealand.  

They are invasive pests in many tropical and subtropical climes, according to certain studies. Potatoes and legumes are the main foods for the adults, while grass can be destroyed by soil-burrowing larvae that eat grass roots.
