African nightshades are a number of plant species that belong to the Solanum part of the Solanum genus and are frequently eaten as leafy vegetables and herbs. It is one of the most significant native leafy vegetables and is found all over the tropics.

Throughout West, Central, and East Africa, the African nightshade is naturally widespread in both lowland and highland regions. It can grow in a variety of soil types, but it performs best in nutrient-rich soil that contains a lot of organic matter.

The fruit of the African nightshade is not consumed like some other nightshades. The vegetable is a great source of iron, vitamin A, iodine, zinc and vitamin A. Traditional uses for nightshades include therapeutic purposes.
