African nightshades are a number of plant species that belong to the Solanum part of the Solanum genus and are frequently eaten as leafy vegetables and herbs.

In West and East Africa, particularly in Nigeria and Cameroon, African nightshades are grown in both highland and lowland regions.

Even though the nightshade family is typically thought of as consisting of harmful weeds or poisonous plants, there is a wide variety of African nightshades that offer various nutritional and therapeutic benefits.
