A perennial plant with a potent scent, Lettuce-Leaf Blumea is found up to 2,000 meters above sea level over the plains of north-west India. This herb with hair or glands has upright, simple or branched stems that grow 1-2 feet tall, extremely leafy, and covered with leaves.
The leaves are stalked, toothed or (occasionally) lobulated at the margins, obovate or oblanceolate, 5–12 cm long, 2–6 cm wide, narrower toward the top. The 8 mm wide, bright yellow blooming heads are produced in terminal, spike-like panicles and are carried on short axillary cymes.
Narrow and hairy involucre-bracts are present. The achenes are smooth, not ribbed, and have a slight 4-angle. The Lettuce-Leaf Blumea can be found from SW Pacific to Tropical & Subtropical Asia.
