Members of the genus Oecobius are commonly referred to as wall spiders. Small flat webs are made by the spiders in these various species across cracks in walls and other similar places.
They have a cribellum, a type of comb-like organ that divides the silk threads taken from their spinnerets into numerous, incredibly tiny fibers.
Because of their tiny diameter, such threads are easily caught by prey insects. They are then bitten by spiders before they can flee.
