Deactivating your TikTok account allows you to put it on a temporary hold. When you're ready to get back on TikTok, you can reactivate it anytime. You can temporarily disable your TikTok account for 30 days from the Settings and privacy section of the app.
To deactivate your TikTok account:
- In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
- Tap the Menu button at the top.
- Tap Settings and privacy.
- Tap Account, then tap Deactivate or delete account.
- Tap Deactivate account and follow the instructions to deactivate your account.
If you deactivate your TikTok account:
- You won't have access to your account, but we'll keep your data so you can recover it if you choose to reactivate your account.
- Direct messages you previously sent to others may remain visible to them.
- Duets or Stitches associated with your videos may still be visible to others.
- No one will see your content or profile.

You can temporarily disable TikTok. But make sure you download your data before deletion because TikTok will disable your account for 30 days. If you don’t reactivate it, all your data will be gone permanently, and there will be no way to get it back. You can download your data during the deactivation process itself, as TikTok suggests doing so when you are deactivating your account.
