Under the direction of German industrialist Max Keith, Coca-Cola Deutschland developed the fruit-flavored carbonated soft drink brand Fanta, which is now owned by the United States.
More than 200 flavors are available globally. Due to the American trade embargo against Nazi Germany, which limited the supply of Coca-Cola components, Fanta was created in Germany as a Coca-Cola substitute in 1940.
