The edible seeds of pine trees are known by a variety of names, including bondoq (Tunisian: [bndoq]), pinoli (Italian: [pinli]), pignoli, and chilgoza (Urdu: []). (family Pinaceae, genus Pinus).

Only 29 species of pines, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization, produce edible nuts; 20 of these species are traded locally or internationally because their seeds are large enough to be harvested; in other pines, the seeds are edible as well, but they are too small to be of significant value as human food.
