I’ve been using TracFone in the States for a loooong time. The coverage is the best there is – they essentially ‘rent’ from all the other national carriers. If you hit one provider’s dead-spot anywhere in the US, another one will take over almost instantly.
The only drawback is a lack of international use – you can call other countries, but you can’t send sms/txt.
Hopefully that will be something that gets updated soon. It’s pay-as-you-go or a subscription which works similarly to standard contract providers.
The phone options are somewhat limited, but you can get just about all of the bells and whistles if you do your homework. It’s a good service across the board.
