Croatia is a lively country, but unfortunately you will have to get informed about local currency, if you spend there your holiday. Last time I visited it, no American dollars or Euros were accepted to small stores, only the local kuna (100 kuna being $18)
I bought by hazard a SIM card offered by Tomato, a division of VipNet and I could use 1000 national minutes and 1GB of internet traffic for 70kuna, pretty affordable I would say
