Egypt had 96.89 million mobile users as of July 2013 and it is the largest market in Africa of the total mobile subscriber market, according to Wikipedia, there are 3 operators in Egypt Vodafone, Mobinil and Etisalat.
The SIM card costs in Egypt about 20-25 EGP.
Note: if your phone is blocked by your operator at home, then you can’t change the SIM card, but you can still use Wi-Fi, some hotels offer it for free or other charge it for 5-10 USD per day.

Five years ago, when I spent my holiday in Egypt, I used my national subscription on Vodafone for roaming, it wasn`t very expensive, the souvenirs I brought cost more
The big issue with Egypt is that the political instability affects the tourism. Too bad, you have a lot to see in Egypt and share with your friends
