If your stay in France is going to be a for a short while, then it makes no sense to opt for a contract with the telecom biggies of France.
Lyca Mobile instead is what one must opt for. Lyca mobile gives you free SIM and the activation requires only an address and a passport no. (valid one offcourse)
After you receive the SIM, all you have to do is call up the customer care and register on phone. Once registered you may get a 10 euro talktime balance.

LycaMobile can be a reliable alternative instead of using roaming, while traveling
Personally, since my sister living in UK gave me a SIM card, I tend to use it regularly for calling her. Rates are cheaper than the offers of major providers in my area. But I presume during the next period LycaMobile will charge more (every miracle dies in the end, isn`t that so?), so I`m keeping my national subscription just in case

Hi
The 10 Euro free credit is there upto a definite period. However the calling rates using Lyca Mobile to other countries is cheaper than what you will get when you use other providers.
As a matter of fact, since I had to daily call my family in India, I found that it is equal to Skype call charges. The best thing about getting a Lyca SIM is that you are free from all formalities other than getting a registration done through phone.
So unless you have an SIM card of the national carriers, it is better to opt for Lyca.

You are right, Lyca SIM is more comfortable than Skype. It`s been months, since I don`t use the app, since this SIM delivers everything I need to contact with my sister in UK
I`m not very sure whether it`s cheaper for longer distance, since I use it only for European destinations, but if you can save money with it, it has to be the best alternative on the market
