This isn’t a whole lot of new information to me, but I think it might be for some people of this forum. In the United States, there’s a lot of housing that is on substandard internet infrastructure. Sometimes you may have a connection as low as 1mbps in some areas, and some rural areas are still on dial-up. However many companies in metro areas have been expanding gigabit technologies and other high-speed broadband services. As a result, home values are increasing as larger amounts of consumers are starting to use high bandwidth consuming applications such as multiple HD streams, etc. It’s a good thing for home owners, and for consumers.

The internet connection is essential to young owners (I don`t see and grandfather of 70s getting nervous about the price affected by the internet infrastructure), since there are some working from home and internet is vital. Additionally, internet is essential for communicating with familly, searching for information and having fun, so it`s natural to search for a home with a decent internet infrastructure
On the other hand, I wouldn`t take it as ultimate criterion in establishing the price of a home. You can possiblity live with the internet connection, when you aren`t connected to water or gas infrastructure

High speed internet increases home value which is absolutely true. With high speed internet helps to load the pages or website quickly. There won’t be problem in loading webpage.
As the Internet becomes central to the way Americans work and live, the digital divide is taking on greater economic significance. Students without Internet access at home may struggle to keep up with school assignments. Towns with less access find themselves falling behind economically, researchers say. Now, the availability of speedy Internet service is starting to affect Americans’ biggest purchase: their homes.
Real-estate agents across the country say more buyers like Ms. Burke and Mr. Cairns are turning their noses up at homes without fast Web access. Some studies suggest those buyers are having a keen effect on home prices. A nationwide study released on Monday by researchers at the University of Colorado and Carnegie Mellon University finds fiber-optic connections, the fastest type of high speed Internet available, can add $5,437 to the price of a $175,000 home—about as much as a fireplace, or half the value of a bathroom

I see what you mean, it`s a real problem to analyze
Luckily, in my country internet connection is something common as eating to a good restaurant each Friday evening, only in the countryside there are some differences in the terms you mentioned, but local providers intend to expand their networks to this type of audience and offer affordable services

I’m also not sure about access to high speed internet increasing the value of a home when it comes to its real estate price…. unless it’s a home in the boonies where it would cost that much to install it.
In the big cities, people expect it as a matter of course and it’s easy to install…
