BBM on iOS and Android is a smart move from blackberry although it took them so so long to get it done, sadly my reason for now looking at BBM is I don’t know anybody who would use it in my social circles… it’s a little legacy.

BBM is still somewhat popular in the philippines since some leading companies still provide blackberry as corporate office phones. colleagues normally used BBM for reporting and qucik sms-type reply to each other.
Oh, yes, when I used to work for a multinational company here in my country, I was forced to use BBM, since everybody used it and employees could communicate easier through free chat apps and similar features. But still, there was something about the keyboard that felt uncomfortable on that old models

agree. especially if you are so used to touch screen. BBM on blackberry keyboard seem so dull and boring. buy hey, serves it’s purpose and since it is an office phone, you can do anything but comply. work is work anyway!
Indeed, that dull keyboard was effective for business. Still, the new models on touch screen are more attractive, too bad there are so little apps designed for BBM, even Nokia has a more generous offer

though the keyboard is boring, owners don’t have a choice but use BBM since it is an office phone and all discussion is official and you need to comply. Now i wonder how many percentage of BBM users is actually on personal preference and not work related? maybe 10%? what’s your guess costin?
I would say less, probably 5%-7%. At least, in my country carriers reached the sad performance of promoting BBM for 0 Euro, with a 2-year contract, just to make sure they would get rid of the stocks. BBM might be a perfect office tool, but its design has to be constantly improved, to align to Android or iOS vogue

I used to work for a large corporation, and they bought all of us managers a Blackberry, when they first came out. God those things were awful. Especially if you were stuck in the airport after your flight was just canceled and the airline recording keeps saying, “press 2 to speak to an agent”. I’m sorry automated phone lady, I have a blackberry and can’t press 2.

thanks for the reply costin. but in the corporate world bbm is somewhat still popular. agree with you as well that there is a future with bbm not if only blackberry unit is not so dull and boring.
Revamping should be the keyword for Blackberry, for the moment the new versions (I have tested Q10) seem to get closer to Android experience, which might be a good start. Naturally, Blackberry has to find ways to improve its marketplace and implement advertising to persuade people already disappointed or not interested that much in trying something new than Android and iOS

I am thinking to buy blackberry phone just for the sake of having the traditional keyboard feature. It is really good to good quick email replies and for chatting.
Sometimes, I miss the old traditional, mostly when my fingers are wet and the display doesn`t react, but I guess it`s better with touch screen experience, since it assures easy multitasking

It is a last attempt by BlackBerry to relive their chat app which was popular once. The lime light is lost as it lacks innovation. Looks how Telegram has evolve and surpass the giant.

With BBM, you never have to give out your phone number or email address, just your PIN number. That’s the best advantage BBM has over other chat apps.
agree. whether bbm is famous or not, what you said is what sets it apart and makes it unique compared to the rest of other chat apps.
