I think we can all agree that Facebook has died over the last few months. It’s still one of the biggest social networks, but it’s clearly dying out and I doubt the current popularity will last long.
Does anyone still use Facebook?

Only when I’m updating my blog so I can keep everyone in the loop. I’ll never understand how some people are so addicted to it. Just like every other fad, this one will die out. The only difference is this one will die out a little more slowly.
Your observation is mostly justified, every glamorous idea dies in the end and has to replaced. My trouble is related to the replacement itself, I mean Facebook seemed to be the complete social network, the emerging concepts indirectly borrowing some of its features
Anyhow, addiction is something that only people with a lot of free time can afford, I`m working more than 10h per day, when I get home, I only want to get some rest, not update my profile
I don’t use facebook as much as I used to, it gets worse by the day, especially the android app, which no longer has an option to show the feed by most recent first unless you scroll all the way to the right, down a few pages then theres a button there for the most recent feed.
I don’t want to see the feed by what facebook deems as important, I am more than capable of judging that myself.
I also think its frustrating how it selects how many people will see your post, I think its something like 20% of your friends will see your post……why? They are my friends, they should be able to choose if they view or hide my posts themselves

Facebook is becoming the uncool service but people still make heavy use of it for a simple factor.. connectivity .. I’ve tried for the longest time to get friends to move to skype or hangouts but .. lazy, useless .. hard headed (of course in my view) so getting them to switch has proved very difficult.

No doubt. I’m on the computer for work for hours a day. The last thing I want to do with my free time is stare at a picture of what a friend is eating for dinner that night. I have one female friend that is seriously addicted to it to the point it is costing her real friends. She won’t put her phone down even if you’re having a conversation with her she just keeps updating her status and commenting on posts. We don’t even invite her out anymore it’s so annoying.

I mostly keep facebook around as my mom is happy with the network and like i said earlier getting her elsewhere is difficult int erms of photos .. i am kinda obsessive when it comes to keeping things backed up so i post to Google+ every photo, the odd ones i like i post to instagram, if im nagged into it I’ll cross post into Facebook and then finally flickr acts as my final backup solution (as they give me a terabyte which means full resolution backups!)

I agree with this 100%. What idiots (forgive the harsh term) make these changes without checking with the folks who actually use the program!
“Upgrades,” more often than not, are downgrades.

Indeed i too agree over here. Facebook has become real bore. Out of my 500+ friends only a few 50 update anything regularly. It is quite boring to see almost the same updates everywhere.
What i feel we really need is now a platform that integrates all other social platforms into one and provides a very streamlined view in just one window.

Have you heard of HootSuite? It does the job – unfortunately it costs money. But you can check it out for 30 days for free.
Since I only do Twitter and Facebook I don’t really bother, but if you use lots of social media programs it might be worth a look.
hootsuite.com is the URL.

In Romania I can say that facebook is at its peak, because everybody use it for any kind of activities young people, old people and even children under 17. it is used mostly for personal display and less for promoting businesses or anything else, but it grows larger and larger every day! people even get married after ‘meeting’ on facebook, so I say it could be a good thing if we use it carefully!
I don’t know how it is in other parts of the word but here if you don’t have a facebook profile, at least as a young person, people look at you like you would be a freak or something nowadays your facebook account is your second identity card..

I think it’s very active in Europe because we don’t have much that replaces it. I often hear about replacements for Indian people and in other parts of Asia I’m pretty sure they also have different kinds of social media!

For the moment, this is the trend, as you described it, but I think the use of Facebook for professional promoting will increase. Not all managers are aware that Facebook is something that can help with little investment, perhaps they don`t have a personal account to test the magic
I`m young and I don`t conceive that account as my second identity card, I don`t have time to update daily my status not on Facebook or other social network, but I notice that things developed in this way, which is quite troublesome

In India, Facebook is one of the fastest growing network. And what is more interesting is the fact that a significantly greater percentage are using facebook through mobile. The handsets vary from basic phones to smartphones. This is one of the prime reason Facebook had sent a team of 7 engineers to India last year. They were sent to India with basic phones and had to browse internet using the very same phone.
So if you ask me if Facebook dead. My answer is definitely NO. on the contrary its rising.
