How often do you check your email? Do you use your smart phone more than you use your laptop for email as well as phone calls? I didn’t use to check that often but with the phone always available, I feel tied to my email account. Fortunately, I didn’t have a text package for a long time and my friends learned to call or email.

Daily, sometimes five times per day, if I expect important emails to arrive, especially from the customers of my company
I mostly use my smartphone, since it`s more at hand, comparing with the tablet that I have to search for among the things I use for job

I have a cheap phone so it does not have internet connectivity, but I know lots of my friends that have smartphones and like you they are constantly checking it to see if there is something new. I prefer the computer and most everyone that knows me knows I don’t text and have no internet, except for the computer and that is only good if I have wifi and the power is working. I am not the easiest person to contact in Nicaragua. Other people are connected ALL of the time, that was something I was happy to get away from when I left the States. I don’t like being connected to electronics 24-7, as they say. There are much more interesting things to see and do here then check Facebook.

You are right, 24/7 connection for any reason leaves little room to private life. I tend to limit my time dedicated to job, so that when I`m at home, I should be at home with my girlfriend

I wish more of the world would follow this policy. Too often we find our lives revolving around the internet and technology. Knowing where to draw the line is a good policy and one that I am sure your girlfriend and girlfriends around the world would like to become mandatory. Good job.
