In the case of Romania, the titans on telecommunication market (Orange and Vodafone) generally lock the smartphones promoted, in order to increase the loyalty level of their customers. On the other hand Cosmote promotes unlocked gadgets and the few models promoted by Digi are also unlocked

From my point of view, the locking tehnique is a forced one, since the customer is officially the owner of that gadget and if she/he wants to unlock it before the deadline of the subscription, will likely to pay 100EURO penalty to the provider, just to have it unlocked

In the offer of cell phone retailers associated with each brand you will find a whole range of locked smartphones, but you can choose from few models, that aren`t locked, this is the reason why I appreciate their presence on the market
