Many people don’t realize that many service providers, especially home phone, internet, and television providers have a retention department. These departments basically attempt to hold onto a customer that is looking to move onto another competing service provider. Nearly all companies have a retention department, and you can call them and explain the situation and that you don’t feel that you’re paying the best price for your service. They’ll often offer you a deal similar to the promotional pricing that’s available for new customers for 6-12 months. Sometimes the savings can be as high as 50% over 6 months or more on most services. I would highly recommend looking for your provider’s retention department number and giving them a call and seeing what they can offer you.

I don`t have to contact them, they usually contact me every December, when my subscription is about to end
If you are a good negotiator, you can benefit of retention offers. For example, last year, I decline every offer they advance and asked what I need it, more internet traffic and more international minutes, in two days an officer called back and noticed me that my personalized plan was approved

This usually works for me. I will just called in and inform them that I want to move as the other service providers is offering me a better deal to jump ship. Normally a officer will call to offer me at least 10% off the current promotion price they are having. They usually do not want to missed a loyal customer with cable, internet and phone accounts with them.

Indeed, it`s more profitable to keep loyal an existing customer, rather than `hunting` potential customers, as consequence you should benefit at much as possible of their availability
Personally, I would have asked more than 30% off the current promotion, to test the provider`s generosity, since it will definitely negotiate the terms of the relation for additional 12 months or 24 months

They are willing to give me the 30% discount when I am on a higher tier plans. But mine is one of the lowest plan and therefore they will not give in for more than 10%. They also know if I move, I am not going to get the 10% from the other service providers.

Practically, either you like it or not, you will have to use what you have, no plans for the better
I had a similar experience with a provider, I waited the deadline of my subscription as hot cakes, just to get rid of it
