At home I use Google Voice as my long distance carrier in the US, it’s free for me to make unlimited calls to the US and Canada. Basically I can use it like a calling card on my household line, I call my local Google Voice number, enter a 4 digit code, and then I can make a call anywhere in the US or Canada for free, unlimited time. It’s really saved me quite a bit of money this past year as I’ve no longer had to have long distance at home nor do I have to buy calling cards as Google offers it for free currently.
You can even add it to your phone and make VoIP calls using your data plan or wireless.

How I was to see it implemented in Europe too, it seems quite affordable
As far as I know the only possibility is to call from USA to some European countries as France, using reduced taxes as $0.37/min, while the traditional providers apply rates of $1.4/min
It will be a revolution to call for free from one country to another, if it`s not possible in the entire Europe, at least among close countries as France and Germany
