What once was just something that we used to talk to other people via wireless, is now becoming what seems to be a fitness device. Smart Phones have already had apps out that allow you to track your food intake, exercising, routine, etc, in the pursuit to become more efficient and fit.
It seems like they’re taking another step forward by tracking your heart rate and then directly attempting to calculate your calories burned and possibly even your food intake directly in the future. I think they’re even trying to re-brand smart phones as fitness devices to sell them in greater numbers and create more buzz.
I’m not against using smart phones in this manner, however, I wonder how effective they’ll be as they’re very quickly becoming a jack of all trades, perhaps a master of none.

I do wonder about the “jack of all trades” issue. I’m concerned about people relying on the quality. Thankfully I don’t have any medical problems, but I’m sure there are people who rely on their ‘wearable’ heart rate monitors and apps far more than they should. I mean social media notifications don’t even work consistently on cell phones, I would be very wary of anything that claims to accurately keep track of respiration, heart rate or even how many calories are burned.
I use apps for yoga, workouts and meditation, but primarily for reminders. Personal trainers and medical professionals make mistakes. I’m not willing to trust my phone that much, at least not until its earned that trust! 🙂

I tend to believe so
It`s a must-have to go to gym with your smartphone or fitness bracelet. In the case of the last item I can understand its purpose, it was created for monitoring your physical activity, in addition it`s connected to your skin
I`m not very sure whether recent apps for smartphone related to fitness can deliver the same accurate results
Whenever I go to gym, I leave my smartphone in my bag. I like to be focused on the relaxing of my body and soul, rather than tracking my speed and the calories consumed

In a word…..yes……as all programmers know, everything is as clever as how clever you programme it.
I have been looking at some of the health devices for mobiles, especially the ones relating to sleep, I have a few issues with sleep and I am keen to learn more about my patterns and why I am always so tired. But in a way…..It’s only since I’ve been aware of the issue….thanks to my phone….that its been a real issue.
I do however feel they can be a good motivational tool, they can help you realise your goals and how to get there and increase your competitive side as you can easily share your achievements.

I can understand that those apps can help you motivate yourself, in order to achieve your fitness goals, but I`m not sure how they can help you improve your sleeping habitude
For example, when I`m extremely tired, no ambiental music or monitoring app can do the same magic as a strong tea of calming plants such as lavender. Some technology has some limits, where nature can`t be equal
