Sony will be the best buy as they will always keep your firmware updated. The rest of the makers may no longer update your smartphone firmware once newer models are launched. This is to ensure that you will purchase newer set.

Although Sony is one of my favorite brands, I have to be sincere and admit that I had to wait for a long time to see my Xperia Ray updated. As consequence, I switched to Google Nexus 5, which is automatically updated as any other Google exclusive creation
Comparing with Samsung, indeed Sony seems to update its units, in a shorter period of time

I know once my Samsung is not the leatest 2 models on the market, Samsung will cease to update it. This is unlike Apple which will continue to support its iPhone till they declare of no support. Google Nexus will also apply the same principle as iPhone.

Most of them are exclusively available for Asian market, so here in Europe we have to get satisfied with Huawei, Motoral and Xperia units
As far as I could notice, in addition to the slim design, those models are quite affordable, probably they sell as hot cakes
