This is not new and we do notice that everyone around us is playing with their phones while ignoring the other people around them. This is a social sickness. Technology is developed to bring us closer, not to make more strangers. Do you agree?

Good point. When we go out to eat I’ll notice half the restaurant on their cell phones including us.

This is such a problem. People are so focused on themselves (what they are playing with on their phones) that they don;t even care what’s going on around them. I was at a Sublime/311 concert two nights ago, and at least a quarter of the people there were just sitting and standing around messing with their phones. Not talking with their companions, and not even reacting in the least to the show. What’s the point in going out anywhere with anyone – just sit at home and get thumb cramps. I actually laughed out loud when I saw the person right in front of me texting that the show was “Great” and they were so glad they got to be there. When I think something is great, I generally pay at least a little attention to it!

Even worse than that, for some sick reason it’s been on the news lately that several different people have left their OWN babies in their cars and the poor things died because of the heat. So now they are recommending that parents put their cell phones on the back seat next to their babies so they don’t forget them! Freaking disgusting that people care more about their phones than a human life.

I’m done ranting, but yeah, use tech as a tool, don’t let it make you become one.

Wow! Very interesting statement about leaving the cell phone in the back seat with the child. Reality check for us all. I guess things have gotten pretty bad. Definitely makes me feel guilty because I’m on my phone all the time.

Technology is growing at a faster pace and so are its disadvantages. Whenever we are free we do spoil our time with our “Smartphone” by playing games ,,,thereby ruining our social lives. That precious time can be dedicated to our closed ones thus building strong relations. For this we need to pose restriction on ourselves..Making lives simpler and healthier

I guess it`s a serious social problem, but since you know where your private life starts, I don`t think modern technology will affect the evolution of your social relationships

Once I get home, I simply change my smartphone to silent mode. If there is a problem at job, it can wait until tomorrow

I think what it’s important in relationships is for you to be able to draw the line on technology and other facets of your life and the time with your partner. Imagine if your partner completely cut you off and ceased interacting with you on an every day basis, and you’d have people who are addicted to their smart phones, or other things to a point that they’re so absorbed that they no longer give priority to their partners.  Something to always keep in mind, many people are pretty capable of managing their priorities, some are not.
