Samsung S5 was the latest smartphone to feature a finger print scanner. This feature provides a certain level of security because the fingerprint is stored in the Secure Enclave and not in a cloud server; however, there is a risk that a user’s fingerprint could be duplicated to access a phone. And if a criminal obtained a user’s fingerprint and identification information, he could use it to commit crimes. Moreover, unlike passwords, fingerprints cannot be reset.

It’s definitely more secure in regards to just keying in a pass code. However, it’s only more secure if you only have the fingerprint scanning option enabled and no passcode lock. The downside of this is if you don’t have a passcode lock, then if say someone keys in their fingerprint, or you misscan your own, you risk not being able to get into your phone.
There’s also still some, slight risk of someone lifting your print from the phone and finding out a way to scan it on the phone, note that I don’t have any confirmed articles of this happening but we leave plenty of finger prints on our devices and I assume that it would be technologically possible to do so, albeit very unlikely.

Indeed, it`s a headache if you mis-scan your finger mark, but I think it will be solved, once Qualcomm`s concept will be implemented
The scanner will be able to read your finger through glass or metal, as consequence it will easily unlock your gadget in any condition
