Hi All,

I have an HTC 8S phone that is currently running Windows 8.1 developer version (OS version 8.10.12382.878) that also includes a 25GB SD card.

The free storage is shown below:
Phone: 410 MB Free
SD Card: 20 GB Free

I have seen a lot of articles on the internet that state that HTC have no plans to update the HTC 8S phones to the latest Windows 8.1 Update 1 version. HTC are only updating the HTC 8X phones. If this is true I am worried that my phone will also not get any future security updates that might be included in Windows 8.1 Update 1 and any future Windows updates.

Can you please confirm if HTC have plans to update the HTC 8S phone to the latest Windows 8.1 Update 1 version. If HTC will not update the HTC 8S phone I will need to buy another mobile phone and it will never ever be a HTC phone.

Thanks You,

I think that the model you use was rumored to receive the update for about one year. As Microsoft bets on HTC to continue the tradition of Nokia`s line, it`s more than likely to update the OS

Anyhow, if you don`t receive the update, there is no need to change the phone. The phone offered by the company I work for is an Android featuring Gingerbread, which might seem mummy, comparing with Nougat, but it`s still perfect functional
