Everyday new smartphones are coming into market with new features that makes them superior and equips the user of the phone with additional things that he could do with it.
Samsung and Apple are bit ahead of other manufacturers like HTC, Nokia, blackberry and Sony ericsson among others though blackberry is phone used by corporates for its email functionality and making it a seller within a corporate. What matters most in Smartphone is its processor, display size, battery backup, wifi connectivity and audio quality.

I love that you mentioned audio quality! I am always listening to music and it’s so much more convenient through my cell phone. I consider audio specs with all my technology that has sound. And while my LG 500G is an inexpensive phone, the sound quality is quite good for the money. Both for listening to music and also for recording when I make my micro-films with the video camera.
I suppose battery life and wifi are really important too – what’s the point in good sound, if you can’t watch & listen?!?

Smartphones can make things easier but they do have a detrimental effect on humans in general, for example now rather than me literally saying this to someone, im sat on my phone typing it. I cannot see a future where being plugged directly into a virtual environment will be all that different than it is now.

hopefully smart watches will gain some traction and become as important as the smartphones or at least as useful.

not to mention internet banking and mobile banking become so convenient because of smartphones. on the note of connecting generations, i can;t agree more since my mom and my son bridge their communication gap via social media on mobile apps. i wish eventually we can use our smartphone as some sort of credit card as well. then that will be so useful.

You can already accomplish this quite easily with a debit card attached to your paypal account and likewise with google wallet, it’s upto vendors to start accepting electronically payments, NFC payments are also perfectly possible with certain banks in certain areas of the world – Australia for example is very much a pay with your phone/card country.

mBank Philippines is the first deployment of the mBank model created in partnership with SMART, the largest mobile operaor in the Philippines. The bank distributes and services financial products leveraging the airtime distribution network of SMART and offers high scalability and low cost of operation, offering a 24×7 service and instant account opening for both savings and loans products.
Smart is their sole client for now but they are quite agressive getting new clients. Confidentially they are hiring alot of senior C-level searches for thier Philippine operation.

so not really consumer market, enterprise/corporate monkeys in basic terms ? big business but not an area I cover or even try to cover/follow, boring dull and usually lacks any real innovating devices.. mostly due to the requirements on devices being uber stable.

not really, no. The technology aspect is great but I don’t want a new credit card, I want an API that allows my phone to become such.

so again, and for the nth time i will tell you that my reply (replies) and feedbacks are based upon my own opinion and experiences. there are people like me who are not technically updated what is being developed or marketed until it become a word-by-mouth product. so mobile banking, credit card and mobile tie-up actual end product is still new, at least on actual application within my environment.

I wouldnt say Anyone is in front of anyone right now, Samsung have the most toys in a device, HTC has one of the best designed devices, Sony the best rugged phone and camera, oppo best hacker type phone, Nokia best call quality – they all have their merits but finding that middle ground between them can be painful for a consumer.
