The FCC recently passed their net neutrality bill and I have to admit, it’s nice to see that it passed. However, I don’t feel that the process was as transparent as it should have been for the consumer. From the general feel of things, it appears that the bill may be a bit too bloated and too regulated, I don’t know. I’m really hoping that this takes a step towards preventing ISPs from favoring certain companies and allowing them to bypass usage caps and so on, by preventing that it will force ISPs to increase usage caps in order to remain viable.
Here’s an interesting take on it all.

I don`t want to seem skeptical, but usually when big companies accept a tremendous change is only a strategy to improve their public image, not much is effectively improved
For instance, when Google was forced by European Union to delete some personal information accidentally captured by Google Streets, the company did it and excused for the incovenience, but it continue to map Europe and capture some details in a similar way to the previous practice

That’s a good point, if the change wasn’t in the corporations best interest, then they would have fought it instead of supporting it. There’s money to be made and we just don’t always see where corporate entities are aiming.
On the Google maps bit, I agree that Google should take down anything that the EU, and anyone else for that matters requests be taken down. However, I do use the Google Street View quite a bit and it’s a feature that I would be sad to see go.
