Tennessee lawmakers have decided to forgo voting on a municipal broadband bill for another year. Unfortunately this is very common in the United States as there is a lot of lobbying pressure from corporations to prevent cities from having their own broadband infrastructure in place. It’s unfortunate because broadband is at it’s core more of a utility than anything else, countries like Japan have already gotten over this issue and they have one of the best infrastructure networks serving their population currently with private companies leasing portions of their network to provide service.
